How to reverse sun damage

“Use a clarifying shampoo”

Summer brings with it many BBQ’s, pool parties, camping trips and boat excursions. Along with all that fun in the sun comes a fair share of damage to our hair from UV rays, salt and chlorine, and frequent exposure to heat. Add to all this outside damage, the heat from everyday styling and we have a recipe for hair disaster. By the time autumn arrives many of us sun worshippers look like we just walked through a wind tunnel with dry, frizzy, sun damaged tresses. There is hope, however. There are a few tricks to help in the healing and recovery from overexposure.

First things first. If you have recently looked in the mirror and discovered that your gorgeous sun kissed tresses are looking more like a fiery dragon breathed on them, you’ll need to start from point A, and that is a clarifying shampoo. Clarifying shampoo washes away all of the things that build up on your hair that regular shampoo has a problem with. Things like salt and chlorine, minerals and hard water deposits, residue from shampoos and conditioners and other things. When shampooing with a clarifying shampoo its best to shampoo as usual and then rinse. Once rinsed shampoo again and then allow the shampoo to sit on the head for two to three minutes before rinsing. This leaves your hair free of all impurities and balances the scalp making the hair shinyand ready to begin a healthy regimen.

“Trimming is the best idea to remove spilt ends”

The next step is to remove all dead ends and brittle broken strands. It doesn’t have to be very short. Trimming split ends can be as little as an eighth of an inch removed. Trimming is important so that the damage at the ends of the hair doesn’t stretch and reach higher up the shaft. If brittle, dry ends are left unattended they can cause more damage by snaring other hairs and tangling. Tangles lead to ripping and pulling and more damage of hair.

Wash only one or twice a week. This encourages hair growth as well as keeps it from drying out. Use a sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner made specifically for dry, damaged hair. Apply a deep conditioner, such as a mask, at least once a month, ideally, twice. A deep conditioner will allow the conditioning agents that are usually rinsed away to penetrate deeper into the hair molecules. Natural conditioners like olive oil are wonderful for sun damage repair. Simply apply in the morning and wait several hours. Go about business as usual and then wash hair in warm water. Avoid over brushing as well. Over brushing drags oils deposited at the scalp down the rest of the hair shaft, giving it a dull, dirty look.

Avoid tight up-do’s with gripping accessories. Pulling hair back into a tight bun, ponytail or twist can break off dry hair. Hair clips, combs, bobby pins and rubber bands can leave deep indentations and even cause hair to break off. Avoid using them at all or pull hair back into a loose bun with only hair pins to secure it.

“A healthy diet can improve the condition of your hair”

A healthy dietis another sun damaged hair trick people often forget. Eating healthy and proper hydration benefit the hair too. Getting the proper water intake is essential to lustrous hair. Eating protein and vitamin rich fruits and vegetable is another way to benefit your hair and encourage growth. Just as shampoos, conditioners and masks nourish and hydrate hair from the outside, so must we nourish it from the inside.

5 Ways To Prevent Screaming Matches When Discussing Relationship Issues

Every relationship has its own sets of problems. What makes one relationship different from the other is the way people react to these issues. Arguments are normal. In fact, they’re healthy as long as they’re not done very often. The problem comes in when discussions become screaming matches. This is a common dilemma for many couples. They know it’s not going to do them any good, but they can’t seem to put a stop to it. Relationship problems ought to be discussed by the two people involved without screaming at each other. Here are 5 ways to get it done:

1. Make an agreement on how to deal with relationship problems
The two of you should agree that shouting and name calling won’t be part of the relationship. More importantly, there should never be any form of degrading. You can always explain your side in a clam manner. Keep in mind that screaming matches will only worsen the situation and even end up in a failed relationship.
2. Know what caused the misunderstanding

No one’s perfect. It’s a given that couples make mistakes. What needs to be done is making the necessary adjustments after the argument. Then again, there’s no way you can adjust if you don’t know the root cause. So find out what caused the argument. This way, you won’t commit the same mistakes again.
3. Talk, don’t argue
This is as simple as it gets. Screaming matches come from arguments. If you talk and express your concerns, you can stay away from heated arguments. Listen to your partner. You don’t have to agree, but you should let the person know that you respect his or her opinion.
4. Talk about the issue at a later time
By talking about the problem at a later time, both of you will have the chance to calm down and be more open-minded when dealing with the situation. This really helps in correcting the issue without having to raise your voice or scream to your partner.
5. Argue at the right time
Arguing isn’t recommended. But if it can’t be avoided, don’t do it in front of your kids. Don’t argue when one is sober and the other is drunk. Don’t talk about relationship problems when you just got off from a very busy day at work. These are the times when your emotions are at its peak and you won’t hesitate to start screaming.
